Centennial Sweeps Class 4A Titles In Boulder City

4A Boys - RESULTS

Centennial put all five of its scorers in the top 30 and won the school's fifth state cross country championship with 60 points. Desert Oasis (98) and Carson (102) were distant a second and third. Galena sophomore Matthew Gordon (16:39) outsprinted Spanish Springs’ Daniel Horner (16:43) in the final 300 meters for the individual championship.

4A Girls - RESULTS

Centennial won its fifth state championship with 51 points. This was the first time a Southern Nevada school had swept the boys and girls championships. Reed was second with 64 points and Damonte Ranch was third with 90. Desert Pines junior Jazmin Felix, second in the 3A Championships in 2017, raced to a 15-second win over Reno’s Penelope Smerdon (19:28 to 19:43).

3A Boys - RESULTS

In the closest team race of the morning, Elko came out the victor with a five-point win over Spring Creek 54-59. Valley junior Christian Franklin had the fastest time of the day with his 31-second win over Elko’s Alex Klekas (16:22 to 16:53)

3A Girls - RESULTS

Spring Creek scored 28 points to Tahoe-Truckee’s 43 to capture the 3A title. Sisters Rylie Lusk and Kendra Lusk placed 2-3 for Spring Creek. The individual championship went to South Tahoe CA junior Carissa Buchholz, who won her second straight state championship with the fastest girls time of the meet, 19:01.

1-2A Boys - RESULTS

North Tahoe CA won its seventh straight championship and 22nd overall with a 37-point win over Sierra Lutheran (37-74). Sierra Lutheran’s Jared Marchegger won his third straight individual championship with a 37-second win over teammate Teagan Hansen, 16:51 to 17:28.

1-2A Girls - RESULTS

North Tahoe CA came within a point of perfection, scoring 16 points for its fifth straight and 12th overall championship. Sierra Lutheran’s Emily McNeely was the individual champion with her 18-second win over North Tahoe’s Jillian Ferre, 20:48 to 21:06.
