Shadow Ridge Slips Past Reno By One Point For 5A Title

Shadow Ridge scored a one-point victory over Reno (107-108) to capture the Class 5A boys cross country championship on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City.

Faith Lutheran’s sophomore Logan Scott (16:07) ran to the individual title. Reno's Cael Mattioli was just two second behind and his teammate Eric Ortega-Gammill was third. 

Carson’s girls scored a 62-70 win over Bishop Manogue for the 5A crown. Individual champion Eleanor Raker, a sophomore from Galena, ran to a nine-second victory in 18:26. Raker’s time was the third best ever run at Veteran’s Park behind only Reno’s Mel Lawrence (17:57) and Collier Lawrence (18:23). 

Bishop Gorman scored 33 points for an easy win over Basic (74) for the Class 4A team title. Jordan Kreisberger (16:43) led the team with an individual win. 

Desert Oasis scored a 33-50 win over Clark for the 4A girls victory. Senior Noemie Guechida led the team with her individual win in 20:01.3.

Class 3A champion Spring Creek produced the best overall team performance for the boys, with three runners under 17 minutes. Nathan Thomas led the team with a first place finish (16:21) and the Spartans scored 35 points.

Somerset Academy Sky Point won its first title with 51 points over Spring Creek, which scored 68. Jenna Walters from Virgin Valley won the 3A girls race in 19:58.

Lincoln County scored a three-point win over North Tahoe (42-45) to win the small-school 2A/1A championship. Noah McMahan from Incline (16:43) was the winner.

The North Tahoe girls won their 14th state championship, scoring 20 points. Freshman twins Britta and Niki Johnson went 1-2 to lead the way for the Lakers. Incline finished second with 42 points and had the third-place finisher, Kira Noble.

Class 3A - Spring Creek boys 35 points, Somerset Academy Sky Point girls 51 points - RESULTS

Class 2A/1A - Lincoln County boys 42 points, North Tahoe girls 20 points - RESULTS
